What Makes the Nando's Menu Different
Walk into any Nando's in the UK and the first thing you notice is nobody's in a rush. That's because the Nando's menu isn't built around speed — it's built around choice. You're picking your cut of chicken, your spice level, your sides, your dips. It takes a minute. That's the point. The whole experience comes from a South African-Portuguese tradition where the African Bird's Eye chilli, grown in Mozambique, gets blended into PERi-PERi sauce that goes on everything.

The Lunch Fix — New for 2026
Nando's quietly added a weekday lunch section to the menu called The Lunch Fix, available from 10am to 3pm. It's a smaller, faster format with three options: The Big Caesar (649 kcal), the Sol Bowl built on legendary Spicy Rice with Charred Corn and Coleslaw, and the Hearty Bowl made with warm mixed grains and Rainbow Slaw. All three let you add protein — pulled chicken, wings, halloumi sticks or PERi-Plant Strips — so it's not just a salad situation. Good value, not widely advertised.

Starters on the Nando's Menu
The starters section runs a "Dare to Share" deal where you pick any three from the list. Right now that includes Halloumi Sticks with either Chilli Jam or PERi-Honey (both serve 2), Houmous with PERi-PERi Drizzle served with warm pitta triangles, Sweet Potato Wedges with Garlic PERinaise, Cheesy Garlic Pitta with melted cheddar and spring onions, Spicy Mixed Olives, and PERi-PERi Nuts loaded with almonds, cashews and macadamia. Worth noting: 10p from every Sweet Potato Wedges plate goes toward fighting malaria in Southern Africa.

PERi-PERi Chicken — The Core
This is the section the whole restaurant is built around. Every cut is marinated in PERi-PERi and flame-grilled to order, then finished in whichever spice level you choose. Your options on the current Nando's menu are the Quarter Chicken (breast or leg, 289 kcal), Half Chicken (breast and leg on the bone, 579 kcal), Whole Chicken (serves 2–3, 1159 kcal), Chicken Butterfly (two breasts, 332 kcal), and 4 Boneless Chicken Thighs (706 kcal). Wings come in threes, fives and tens, plus the Wing Roulette where 10 wings arrive in different random spice levels — genuinely unpredictable.

The Seven Spice Levels to Know
The spice tab on the Nando's menu lists seven levels in 2026: Plain...ish (no heat, 0 kcal), Lemon & Herb (zesty and tangy, 10 kcal), PERi-Tamer (sweet with a BBQ hint, 40 kcal), Medium (a flicker of fire, 21 kcal), Hot (tongue-tingling, 41 kcal), Extra Hot (a sizzling hot spice and then some, 82 kcal), and PERi-PERi Saka which is currently a limited-time addition described as sweet and smoky with a free kick. The spice levels only appear on dishes where the chicken is grilled fresh to order — chicken cuts, wings, and grilled chicken burgers, pittas and wraps.

Extra Saucy Wings
The Extra Saucy Wings don't get enough attention. You can order them in threes, fives or tens. They come flame-grilled in your chosen spice, then finished with PERi-Tamer sauce and drizzled with creamy yoghurt dressing. The Nando's website literally says "napkins needed" in the description, which tells you everything. The 10 Extra Saucy Wings come in at 958 kcal and are listed as serving 2–3, though we've seen one person manage it with minimal regret.

Burgers, Pittas and Wraps
The Nando's menu carries five burgers right now. The Butterfly Burger is two chicken breasts with PERi-Tomato relish and their new PERi-House Sauce in a rustic Portuguese roll. The Sunset Burger uses two thighs or a breast with cheddar, red pepper chutney and Lemon & Herb mayo — described on the site as "messy." The Garlic Churrasco Burger is served in a Garlic Bread bun with Churrasco PERinaise and pickled onions. If you're in Scotland, The Robbo is a limited-time Butterfly in a Garlic Bread bun with cheddar and PERi-House Sauce. Wraps and pittas carry the same chicken options in single or double portions.

Fino Pitta — The Special Choice
Among the pittas, the Fino stands alone. It's 841 kcal and built differently from the others — two flame-grilled thighs or a breast combined with grilled halloumi cheese, caramelised red onion relish, garlic aioli and lettuce. There's no spice selector on the Fino Pitta because the flavour profile is already set. It's one of the richest things on the Nando's menu and consistently underordered by people who go straight for the standard pitta out of habit.

Chicken Livers — The Portuguese Root
Chicken Livers with a Rustic Portuguese Roll (653 kcal) sits in the PERi-PERi Chicken section and has been on the menu for years. They arrive in a rich garlicky sauce made with PERi-PERi, tomatoes, onion and warming chilli. Nando's suggests having them with Spicy Rice, which is actually the right call. This dish is a direct nod to the Portuguese-Mozambican roots of the whole brand — it's not there for the casual customer, it's there for the people who know.

Salads and Bowls
Three options sit in this section. The Spicy Rice Bowl (600 kcal) is plant-based — legendary Spicy Rice with Tenderstem broccoli, Rainbow Slaw, pickled cauliflower and houmous with PERi-PERi seeds. The Mediterranean Salad (360 kcal) brings feta, semi-dried tomatoes, olives, cucumber and pickled onions dressed in Rozendal vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. The Caesar Salad (473 kcal) is crunchy cos lettuce with creamy dressing, Italian hard cheese and herby croutons. All three work with added protein from the Extras section.

Sharing Platters — Feasts
Five platters are currently listed. The Full Platter is a Whole Chicken with two large or four regular sides — meal for two. The Boneless Platter pairs a Chicken Butterfly with 4 Boneless Thighs and sides. The All-in Platter adds two bottomless soft drinks to the Whole Chicken and sides deal. The Family Platter goes big with two Whole Chickens and five large sides, serving four to six. The XL Wing Platter brings 15 Chicken Wings with two large or four regular sides. All platters let you mix spice levels across the chicken.

The Veggie Section — Genuinely Good
The Nando's veggie menu has four distinct items in 2026. The Big Cheese is a halloumi burger with red pepper and pineapple salsa, avocado and Churrasco PERinaise in a Portuguese roll. The Great Imitator Wrap is brand new and uses their new PERi-Plant Fillet, grilled in your chosen spice — Nando's flag that allergens have changed on this one so worth checking. Then there are three Beanie variations: the Beanie Burger, Beanie Wrap and Beanie Pitta, all built on the same patty of chickpeas, sweetcorn, lentils, peas, pumpkin seeds and cheddar cheese.

Nandinos Kids Menu
The Nandinos menu is for kids under 10 and follows a set structure: pick a main, pick a flavour, pick two sides, then choose a dessert or drink. Mains are Nandino Burger, Chicken Breast, Mac & Cheese, 3 Chicken Wings and Little Pitta. Nando's specifically recommends PERi-Tamer for kids who aren't sure what spice to pick — it's sweet, BBQ-style and has barely any heat. Sides for kids include Chips, Corn on the Cob, Cucumber Sticks and Spicy Rice. Dessert is the Bottomless Soft Swirl Tub, a vanilla ice cream made with Jersey cow's milk that gets unlimited refills.

Sides — Customise Your Plate
Sides are where regular Nando's customers have opinions. The current list includes PERi-Salted Chips, plain Chips, Spicy Rice, Coleslaw, Rainbow Slaw, Corn on the Cob (with butter), Creamy Mash, Garlic Bread, PERi-Mac & Cheese (with a crunchy garlicky PERi crumb), Hearty Grains, Tenderstem Broccoli in garlic and lemon oil, Macho Peas with mint and chilli, Portuguese Tomato Salad, and Charred Corn in a creamy garlicky sauce. The newest addition is Rostinas — crunchy potatoes with smoked paprika, Garlic Aioli and PERi-PERi Drizzle on the side. The Fully Loaded Chips (sharing side) tops PERi-Salted Chips with pulled chicken, cheddar, spring onions and PERi-Tamer sauce.

Dips, Extras and Add-ons
The Dips and Extras section is where you customise. PERinaise is Nando's mayo made with egg and celery — the website adds "(Please double check the allergens as our PERinaise bottles have slightly different ingredients)" which is an honest flag. Garlic PERinaise is plant-based with no listed allergens. Other extras include Grilled Halloumi Cheese, 2 Boneless Chicken Thighs, a Grilled Chicken Breast, Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Pineapple, half an Avocado, PERi-PERi Drizzle (a smoky spiced oil), Beanie Patty, the new PERi-Plant Fillet, and PERi-Chicken Gravy. The Herby Pickle Bowl at 33 kcal is plant-based and criminally overlooked.

A Note on Allergens
Nando's kitchens handle all 14 major allergens and use shared grills and equipment. That means no dish on the Nando's menu can be guaranteed completely free of any allergen. The main ones to know: dishes in buns or pittas contain gluten (wheat, sometimes oats or rye). Anything with PERinaise has egg and celery. Halloumi contains milk. Spicy Rice has no listed allergens but may contain traces of nuts, peanuts and sesame from the kitchen. The PERi-Plant Fillet and Great Imitator Wrap have recently updated allergen information — the website specifically flags this, so always check with staff before ordering if you have a serious allergy.

Why People Keep Coming Back
It's not complicated. The food is consistent, the spice levels are honest about what they are, and the menu gives you enough control to make it feel like your order. A Half Chicken with Spicy Rice and Macho Peas is different from a Butterfly Burger with PERi-Salted Chips and Coleslaw, even though both cost a similar amount and both come out of the same kitchen. That flexibility is what keeps the Nando's menu interesting after dozens of visits. And then someone orders the Wing Roulette and suddenly the table has an opinion about everything.
